How to Find Dancing Gigs
While your ultimate goal may be to secure an agent who believes in your talent and has strong industry connections, getting those first gigs can be the hardest part. The key is building up a portfolio and getting noticed. Signing up with a few well-established platforms is a great way to get your name out there and find relevant opportunities. Two of the best options include:
Backstage
Backstage offers a mix of job opportunities, including acting and dancing gigs. While you can sign up for job alerts for free, accessing detailed listings and applying requires a subscription. The subscription is affordable, usually under $100 a year, and the job alerts are frequent and varied. Note that not all roles are dance-related, but you can still find plenty of opportunities. Actor’s Access
Actor’s Access allows you to create a profile without paying a subscription fee, making it a great option for getting started. While they offer a premium service for $68 annually, you don’t need to pay for the premium plan to upload headshots, resumes, and basic profile information (including age, height, and weight), all of which casting directors require.
